Mr Newman’s ‘Epic’ E-ssembly

Dear all

It has been a very full-on week for us here at Casterton as we prepare ourselves for some wider re-opening of the School. We are looking forward to seeing more children back through the gates and getting one step closer towards normality. I otherwise find myself returning to the subject of running this week, as we prepare for the first Virtual Epic and I send both my thanks to Mr Gorst for making it a reality and my congratulations to runners of all ages who take it on – either here on the ‘home course’ or on alternative routes.

Please share photographs and videos of your Epic efforts with us on social media by tagging us as below, using the hashtag #virtualepic:

The theme of ‘Epic’ also applies to our guest speaker at this year’s Speech Day. Mark Keville heads up Robbie’s Rehab, a charity dedicated to helping children recovery from brain injury and our charity for the Michaelmas Term. He is speaking to us in a couple of weeks’ time on the theme of ‘courage’. On Saturday he is running three consecutive marathons to raise money for this excellent cause. Mark was a parent at a previous school of mine and one of the most inspirational men I have met. I thought that some of you might like to hear a bit about his back story which will provide context to his speech, but would warn that it is difficult to watch, involves loss, and is to be viewed and shared with care. Mark’s Story

Very best wishes and stay safe
