At Sedbergh Prep, our Pre-Prep (Pre-School to Year 2) provides a nurturing, lively and inspiring beginning to your child’s school journey. From the moment children join us in Reception through to the end of Year 2, we focus on helping them feel confident, curious and delighted by learning in a supportive community where every child is known and valued.

Exciting New Pre-Prep Spaces Coming in 2026
From September 2026, our Pre-Prep will be moving into a beautiful, purpose-designed environment created especially for the youngest learners. These new spaces will be tailored to support imaginative play, discovery and collaboration, and will provide children with bright, flexible classrooms and inspiring areas for creative, physical and outdoor learning — ensuring every child gets an exceptional start to their education. We believe that the earliest years are a time for exploration, creativity and growth. Our experienced teachers blend play, structured learning and specialist activities so that children develop strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills — all delivered in a warm, engaging environment that celebrates each child’s individual strengths.

Throughout the Pre-Prep, children benefit from being taught by subject specialists in art, music, physical education and French. They also visit the library, design, technology and engineering workshop, computer suites and science laboratories on a regular basis.

For busy families, we offer wrap-around care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment from breakfast until supper. This service is ideal for parents juggling demanding schedules and gives children extended time to learn, play and connect with friends.
