From September, Sedbergh Prep’s Pre-Prep will move into a reimagined part of the main school campus: a purpose-designed environment located directly opposite The Den, our much-loved outdoor classroom.

This new home will be thoughtfully created to fully support enquiry-based learning, giving our youngest pupils the space and freedom to explore, imagine and discover. A secure, bespoke outdoor area will be accessible directly from the classrooms, allowing children to flow seamlessly between indoor and outdoor learning and enriching their daily experiences. Being on the same level as The Den also means more frequent, spontaneous opportunities to enjoy outdoor adventures and nature-led learning.
While the space is tailored specifically to Pre-Prep needs, pupils will remain closely connected to the wider Prep School community, continuing to benefit from shared experiences and a strong sense of belonging. Their age specific play area will sit beside The Den, complete with an exciting new addition – Charlie the Tractor – designed to delight and inspire imaginative play. This move also enables enhancements across the School, with new climbing equipment and a trim trail for older year groups being installed.
