Sedbergh Prep has a long-standing tradition of working closely with military families

We understand the unique challenges faced by children whose parents serve in the Armed Forces. We provide a stable, secure, and supportive environment, ensuring continuity in their education. Our team listen to both parents and pupils, responding flexibly and sympathetically to their needs while maintaining a structured and disciplined approach that fosters personal growth and academic success.

The difference in my daughter is phenomenal…we could not have asked for a better support network. Her achievements are a testimonial to this. Her confidence, results and personal development are down to the teaching staff and all round environment that Sedbergh offers.

Providing a home away from home

As Head of Sedbergh Prep School, it is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to our military families.

Sedbergh Prep has long been a place where Forces families feel at home. With a deep-rooted military heritage and a proud tradition of Old Sedberghians serving with distinction in the armed forces, we understand the unique challenges that military life can bring. Whether it’s frequent relocations, changing routines or extended periods of separation, we are here to offer stability, care and a strong sense of belonging.

Our boarding houses lie at the heart of our community. They provide a nurturing, family-like environment led by exceptional staff who are deeply committed to each child’s wellbeing. Our values of kindness, responsibility and courage are woven through everything we do – from the classroom to the sports field, and beyond. As our recent ISI report highlighted the pupils “the school’s strong pastoral care ensures that pupils feel valued, safe, and supported.” reflecting the Prep School’s nurturing and supportive environment, which encourages every child to flourish

We are proud to support our military families, and I would be delighted to welcome you to Sedbergh Prep School.

Kate Martin, Head

We would recommend Sedbergh to any family considering boarding education. The house has a really family feel and is the perfect size for lots of friends but a close-knit group. With CEA, boarding at Sedbergh is very affordable and we are delighted that we are able to offer our child such an exceptional and joyful education while I continue with my military career.
