Sedbergh Prep School Gardener Takes on 24-Hour EPIC Challenge for Children in Need

Sedbergh Prep School’s much-loved gardener, Stuart Graham, is taking on a challenge of truly EPIC proportions this November — all in aid of BBC Children in Need.

From lunchtime on Thursday 13th November, Stuart will set off on Sedbergh Prep’s iconic Epic course, a demanding seven-mile fell route with over 1,200 feet of ascent, and will keep going, running, walking or even crawling, for a full 24 hours.
The Epic course is a true Sedbergh tradition, testing endurance, determination, and teamwork as runners climb the fells above Casterton before descending back towards the school. While pupils normally tackle the route once a year as part of the Prep’s legendary “Epic” race, Stuart will attempt to complete it again and again over an entire day and night.

He will be joined at intervals by pupils, parents and staff from both Sedbergh Prep and Sedbergh Senior Schools, who will run alongside him to cheer him on and raise funds for this important cause.
Speaking ahead of the challenge, Stuart said:

The Epic is tough enough once, so I’m not sure what I’ve let myself in for! But Children in Need is such a brilliant cause, and with the support of our amazing school community, I’m determined to keep going for the full 24 hours.”
