Sedbergh School Launches Three Apprenticeship Opportunities in Grounds & Garden, and Maintenance

Sedbergh School is pleased to announce the launch of three full-time apprenticeship roles, Grounds & Garden Apprentice, and Maintenance Apprentices, all of which will begin in September 2025. Based at the school’s historic estate in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, these positions are part of the School’s commitment to vocational training within its Estates team.

Apprenticeship Opportunities

Grounds & Garden Apprentice

  • Location: On‑site at Sedbergh School.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
  • Responsibilities: Includes lawn care, planting, pruning, seasonal flowerbeds, general horticultural tasks, and machinery use—all under the supervision of the Grounds Manager. Hands-on estate work supports extensive grounds across both Sedbergh and Casterton sites.
  • Training: Formal apprenticeship structure includes college study and on-site mentorship.

Maintenance Apprentices

  • Location: On‑site at Sedbergh School.
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
  • Duties: The role entails general building repairs, internal and external maintenance, and day-to-day upkeep of school facilities under the Clerk of Works. Apprentices gain practical skills while supporting safe, responsive maintenance throughout the campus.
  • Training: Formal apprenticeship structure includes college study and on-site mentorship.
