Sedbergh has a long-standing tradition of working closely with military families

We understand the unique challenges faced by children whose parents serve in the Armed Forces. We provide a stable, secure, and supportive environment, ensuring continuity in their education. Our team listen to both parents and pupils, responding flexibly and sympathetically to their needs while maintaining a structured and disciplined approach that fosters personal growth and academic success.

The difference in my daughter is phenomenal. She has grown impeccably. We could not have asked for ay better support network than what she has received. Her achievements are a testimonial to this. Her confidence, grades and personal development are down to the teaching staff and all round environment.

Providing a home away from home

Sedbergh School has long been proud to welcome Forces families, and we recognise the trust placed in us by parents whose service may require mobility, separation and change. Our military heritage, together with the distinguished service of many Old Sedberghians, gives us a deep respect for the values and commitment of military life.

As a full boarding school, Sedbergh provides the stability, structure and sense of belonging that are so important for children from Forces families. Our Houses are the heart of our community, offering a true home from home where pupils are known, supported and encouraged by dedicated pastoral teams. Through our seven-day boarding model, pupils benefit from consistent routines, strong friendships, academic ambition and a rich programme of sport, service, outdoor education and co-curricular activity.

We want every pupil to feel rooted, valued and able to flourish. For Forces families, Sedbergh offers not only continuity and care, but a community in which young people can grow in confidence, resilience and purpose.

Robin Pyper, Headmaster, Sedbergh Senior School

We would recommend Sedbergh to any family considering boarding education. The house has a really family feel and is the perfect size for lots of friends but a close-knit group. With CEA, boarding at Sedbergh is very affordable and we are delighted that we are able to offer our child such an exceptional and joyful education while I continue with my military career.

How does CEA funding work?
