An interview with Dugald Bruce-Lockhart
We’re delighted to share this conversation with Dugald Bruce-Lockhart, one of Sedbergh’s most accomplished former pupils (School House, 1981–86). Dugald is an actor, director and writer whose career has taken him from the stages of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre to the screen, the West End and beyond — a journey that began right here at Sedbergh.
In this interview, Dugald reflects on his time at school, the lessons that shaped his path, and the creative risks and rewards that have defined his life in the arts. Whether you dream of performing, directing, writing — or simply finding your own way in the world — his experiences offer insight, encouragement and plenty of food for thought.
