Sedbergh Gives Back 2024

Every year, in the lead-up to Christmas, Sedbergh School’s staff and pupils come together for Sedbergh Gives Back to support local communities and causes. This special day embodies the School’s values of service, kindness, and humility, with each house participating in meaningful activities that have a positive impact.

  • Carus traveled to Liverpool One, spreading festive cheer by carol singing and collecting toys for KIND, a local children’s charity.
  • Evans worked at Ripon Walled Garden, helping with garden and woodland projects to support adults with learning needs.
  • Hart assisted Kendal Scouts and Castle Head Field Studies Centre with general maintenance, painting, and gardening.
  • Robertson stayed in-house, making wreaths, mince pies, and Christmas cards to deliver to the local community. They also contributed to environmental conservation with the Fix the Fells initiative.
  • School House supported Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre in Bowness, conducting physical work to ensure the site remains accessible for people with disabilities.
  • Lupton traveled to Liverpool, decorating St Mary’s Church, preparing and serving Christmas dinners for the community, and helping the homeless by packing rucksacks. They also sang at local care homes and supported the Marie Curie Centre.
“Both the girls and the residents enjoyed lovely chats and treats. We then spread more festive cheer by continuing to give back by litter picking from the hospice to the church.” Scarlet, Lupton House
  • Sedgwick engaged in singing, assisting the local food bank, and completing community jobs around Kendal and Sedbergh.
  • Powell worked with The Friends of the Lake District to clear overgrown gorse bushes, improving access and wildlife habitats in the Kendal area.
  • Winder put their backs into cleaning and tidying up our local Sedbergh community!

With activities ranging from environmental conservation to supporting the vulnerable, Sedbergh Gives Back Day demonstrated the School’s commitment to making a difference. Thank you to all the pupils, staff, and community partners who contributed to this incredible day of giving!
