Rawthey Run

The Rawthey Run was founded in 1992 by Peter Knowles, then Housemaster of Sedbergh’s junior boarding house, Cressbrook. Created to provide competitive opportunities for junior boys, the event began with a different course to today’s route. Now run entirely on Sedbergh’s own land, the Rawthey Run has grown year on year as more schools joined. What started as a modest race is now a highlight of the Schools’ running calendar, and this year we are delighted to welcome over 45 schools and 700 runners to our biggest event yet.
